Leadwood Lodge is located in the game rich Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is home to South Africa's Big Five (Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Lion and Buffalo) and over 300 different bird species. The Sabie Sand Game Reserve also shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park.
How to get there
Directions from Johannesburg, South Africa
From Johannesburg, take the N21 / N4 towards Nelspruit and from Nelspruit take the R40 towards Hazyview. When you arrive in Hazyview, take the R536 towards th Paul Kruger Gate. After driving 34km (21.12 miles), look out for signs indicating the private game lodges (including Exeter) on the left hand side of the road.
Turn into the gravel road and drive for 8.2km (5.09 miles). Pass the school situated on the left hand side of the road. Continue until you reach a large four-way intersection. Turn right at the intersection. Drive for 1.4km (0.86 miles) until you reach a T-junction.
Turn left at the T-junction and drive for about 800m (0.49 miles). You will see signboards indicating Exeter game lodges on the left hand side of the road. Turn left here and drive another 1km (0.62 miles) to the entrance gate to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
You will have to pay an entrance fee per vehicle. One you've entered the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, turn left immediately. Drive past the turnoffs to Savanna, Castleton, Singita and Idube. Once you've passed the Idube sign, you will see the signboards for the Exeter lodges. Follow the signs to Leadwood Lodge.
