Location:
Lion Sands River Lodge is ideally located on the banks of the Sabie River in the game rich Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa. The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is situated next to the Kruger National Park and is home to a diverse range of African wildlife.
You can choose to self drive from Johannesburg or fly into one of the nearby airports. Charter flights are available to Skukuza Airport, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) and the Mala Mala Airfield. Road transfers from the airport to Lion Sands River Lodge can be arranged.
How to get there:
Directions from Johannesburg, South Africa:
Driving from Johannesburg, take the N12 / N4 highway to Nelspruit. From Nelspruit, take the R40 to the town of Hazyview. Once you arrive at Hazyview, turn right onto the R536 towards the Paul Kruger Gate. Continue for about 38km (23.61 miles) on this road.
Then turn left onto a gravel road signposted Lion Sands. Drive along this gravel road for about 2km (1.24 miles) until you reach a T-junction. At the T-junction, turn right and drive for about 5km (3.10 miles) until you reach the Sabi Sand Gate.
You will need to pay an entrance fee per vehicle at the gate. Once inside, drive straight and follow the signposts to Lion Sands. After about 2km (1.24 miles), turn right at the sign. Follow the signs to Lion Sands River Lodge.
